Swimming Pool Compliance Certificates
As at 29 April, 2016 any property being sold or leased that contains a swimming pool or outside spa, must have a Compliance Certificate. If a previous Compliance Certificate is less than three years old, then a new certificate has to be obtained.
The Compliance Certificate
The Compliance Certificate must be registered on the swimming pool register as well as the pool/spa must also be registered on that site.
If the pool/spa does not comply and a compliance issue notice is served, the owner must do all works required to fix any non-compliance.
You can apply to Council to attend and complete the Certificate or you may use an accredited certifier.
There are different requirements for different pools/spas and certain types of property, depending when the pool/spa was built. Some pools are even exempt from this requirement. However, most swimming pools will be required to be compliant.
If you, as the owner, do not comply with the requirements then you may incur hefty fines and notices.
