Air Conditioning | Simone TV: Episode 44
What are the different types of air-conditioning available and which one do you need in your new home? Whether it’s split system or ducted – here’s what you need to know!
It’s hot in here. On this episode, we talk about Air-con.
Hi guys and welcome back to the first episode of Simone TV for 2017. I hope you enjoyed your break and that you all have had plenty of time with the family. I hope you had a time off too. Maybe some of you worked and maybe some of you didn’t. I hope nonetheless you spent Christmas with your family and had a great New Year. I’d love to know how your New Year’s resolutions are going. Have you start doing so far? We all probably made them but we are a couple of weeks in the 2017 now. So, I hope you are sticking to your 2017 goals.
What I thought that I’ll do today is I thought we had actually quite a lot of hot days with a couple of 40 degrees heat. That would probably be a good opportunity for us to talk a little bit about air-conditioning. We do have some tips to start from zoning and thought I would touch about the good stuff like that.
One of the ones that we use is actually Actron Air that is something that we use and I have the brochure here in front of me. Just quickly run through their three packs, what they have is their Classic Pack – has two zones that have ESP+ and that has actually four zones and ESP plus platinum which has six zones.
What I want to do is to touch on the different zoning and what they actually means. So that would be 2, 4 and 6.
Say for example you have a double storey house. You might choose to have all upstairs as one zone, and all of done stairs as another zone. For example, you have four zones, what you may be able to do is to maybe have all the kids’ bedrooms as a zone, maybe have the master bedroom as a zone, maybe the family room as another zone, and the rest of the house as another zone. Obviously, each zone has got to do with the individual outlets. If you are a bit confused like what you need for your home, don’t worry, ask or your builder will definitely help you with the size of your home. How many outlets they recommend obviously there are different sizes of motors as well, which could work differently as well.
Just a tip I’d like to give too, you don’t really think about the livability on how you want to live in the home. How many kids you have? Are you planning to have kids? Are you retiring? Where will you use the air-conditioning? Do you want to try and save some money on your electricity bills? Some of the things like these can definitely help when choosing how many zones.
Say for example, you do have small children and you don’t want the air-conditioner in their room but you do want it in your master bedroom. You might choose to have three zones and have one in the master bedroom, one for the kids, and one in the living room. So, this is something definitely you want to think about on how you are going to live in your new home in regards to the zoning.
Maybe you are a retired couple and you’re not going to use the air-conditioner in the other bedrooms. So you might decide to separately zone that, and you don’t have to constantly have in the air-con running where there’s nobody living in there.
Also actually with this one it’s actually pretty cool and you can actually get an iPhone app that you can control settings when you’re not actually home. It’s very very cool and very handy, and a lot of the time I drove home and I’m like, ‘oh I wish I can turn on the air-con through the phone’. You turn air-conditioner on and you come home to a beautiful beautiful cool home. Also, there are other options with cooling. Split systems are a great idea here. You may be only don’t want the full ducted zone air-conditioning? Or you might have a separate granny flat or something like that. But you can just choose to have a separate split system. This is mounted on the wall and that just controls heating and cooling in that one room. It’s another option as well too.
In the comments below, I’d love to know what you did with your zoning. Did you do a little bit different? Maybe you can leave a tip for someone and recommend how you did that might give them some helpful hints and how they can actually zone their house for air-conditioning.
If you know anyone who needs to know a little bit about air-conditioning and confused about zoning, and size of the motors, then just leave a comment below. I’ll do my best to help you out with that too.
Thanks for joining me on the first episode of 2017. We look forward to bringing it to you throughout the whole year again. Don’t forget to share this with anyone.
All right guys, thanks for watching. Bye for now…
